Searcy is home to award winning Harding University and Arkansas State University-Searcy.  Five other major Universities or Colleges are located within a 50 mile radius of Searcy. 

Searcy has a host of businesses offering fun things to do including a bowling alley, two movie theaters, a dinner theater, lazar arcade, four fitness centers and a roller skating ring.

Outstanding facilities and services provided by some of the best health care professionals in the state have allowed Searcy's medical community to become a major referral site for north central Arkansas.

On October 23, 1835 the General Assembly of the Territory of Arkansas passed an act which took in 1,027 miles of lands from Independence, Pulaski, and Jackson Counties and created White County. White County is comprised of 16 communities today.

The City of Searcy is managed by a Mayor/Council form of government.The Mayor serves a four year term and eight Aldermen serve two year terms. The Mayor is responsible for management of all the city's departments and funds.

Located in North Central Arkansas, Searcy rests in the Foothills of the Ozarks. The gently rolling terrain supports a humid, sub-tropical climate during most of the year with relatively short, mild winters and long, warm summers
