Harding University breaks ground on $8.5 million theology library
New project to expand School of Theology offerings for current and future students
SEARCY, Ark. (Feb. 7, 2025) — Harding University has broken ground on an $8.5 million, 18,000-square-foot library addition for its School of Theology, set to be completed by March 2026. An extension of the Brackett Library, this new facility will provide HST students with access to one of the most extensive theology collections in the South, enhancing research and academic resources for its future ministry leaders.
“We are excited about the great potential represented by this new facility,” said Dr. Peter Rice, dean of Harding School of Theology. “We are training a new generation of ministers, missionaries, teachers, and scholars, and the generosity of our community will help us continue HST’s profound global impact into the future.”
In Fall 2024, 71 new graduate students enrolled in HST, a 65% increase from the previous year. Harding School of Theology also saw a 21% increase in credit hours earned, a promising sign of continued growth, which University leaders believe will be aided by the addition of the new library. Through its loyal donor support, the University has been better able to serve HST students with quality, affordable education offering a net tuition cost for the 2024-25 academic year at just $100 per credit hour.
“The library will house our University’s extensive theology collection, empowering students to immerse themselves in scholarly work and fellowship,” said Harding president, Dr. Mike Williams. “We are fully committed to making theological education accessible to more people across the globe in a humble yet steadfast effort to expand the kingdom of God.”
Since 1952, HST has helped graduates deepen their faith and elevate their standards of ministry and scholarship. Accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools, Harding School of Theology offers the following degree programs: Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, Master of Arts and Doctor of Ministry.
