Harding University brightens the night during spectacular lighting ceremony Nov. 18

University’s annual light display in conjunction with the city of Searcy’s Holiday of Lights

SEARCY, Ark. (Nov. 13, 2024) — Harding University will officially kick off its holiday season activities with the widely anticipated annual campus lighting ceremony taking place on the front lawn near the David B. Burks American Heritage Building. The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, with an illumination countdown led by University president, Dr. Mike Williams.

Harding welcomes guests to experience the holiday charm on campus by taking in the brilliant light display, which will feature hundreds of thousands of sparkling lights, wreaths and holiday decor adorned across campus through New Year’s.

"There's something magical about the holiday lights illuminating our campus each year,” said President Williams. “It’s a tradition that brings us all together, and we are proud to share this season’s spirit with our students, staff and every guest who joins us. It’s our way of spreading light and celebrating the peace and joy of the Christmas season."

Following the lighting ceremony, guests are invited to continue enjoying Harding’s holiday celebrations with a special string orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Anthony and Wright Administration Building Auditorium.

The University's annual light display is featured in the city of Searcy's Holiday of Lights, a community guide to seasonal events and lighting exhibits held across the city during December. The city of Searcy will also host its holiday event at Berryhill Park, just ahead of Harding’s lighting ceremony, at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 18. The Berryhill Park event will include a lighting ceremony, live reindeer, free Polaroid photos with Santa, and complimentary hot chocolate and coffee.
