• Yarnell’s Ice Cream and Harding Unveil University's Official Ice Cream Flavor: Bison Tracks

  • Flavor collaboration a first for two historic Searcy institutions

    SEARCY, Ark. (Nov. 20, 2024) — Yarnell’s Ice Cream, Harding University and Bison Hospitality announce the upcoming launch of Harding's official ice cream: Bison Tracks. Featuring a unique flavor profile chosen by Harding students, this delicious new offering by storied, Searcy-based frozen treats maker Yarnell's ​​features rich chocolate ice cream, brownie bits and luscious caramel ribbons.

    Dr. Mike Williams, president of Harding University, shared his excitement about the new ice cream flavor and the collaboration with Yarnell's. "We are incredibly proud of our students for their creativity and participation in selecting Bison Tracks as our official ice cream flavor. This collaboration with Yarnell’s Ice Cream and Bison Hospitality is a testament to the vibrant and innovative spirit of our community. We look forward to enjoying this delicious treat together.”

    Harding’s Department of Family and Consumer Sciences held a tasting event on Nov. 5, giving participants the opportunity to sample the new Bison Tracks flavor combinations. The closed focus group played a key role in helping refine the final flavor profile before sending the new official Bison Tracks ice cream into production.

    Jason Lucas, general manager of Bison Hospitality, emphasized the importance of the historic collaboration. "We are excited to partner with Yarnell’s Ice Cream and Harding University to bring Bison Tracks to life. This flavor not only represents the tastes and preferences of the Harding community but also showcases the collaborative effort that went into its creation. We can’t wait for everyone to try it."

    The new flavor will be available in select campus dining halls and catered events next semester, offering students, faculty and campus guests a chance to sample this unique creation. Bison Tracks marks the first product partnership between Yarnell’s Ice Cream and Harding University, two of Searcy’s most iconic institutions. Yarnell's was launched in Searcy in 1932, and Harding University moved there two years later. 

    Megan Jones, M.S., RDN, LD, assistant professor in the department of family and consumer sciences, also expressed her enthusiasm for the signature flavor. "The creation of Bison Tracks is a wonderful example of how our students’ input can lead to something truly special," Jones said. "This new flavor not only reflects their preferences but also brings a sense of pride and community to our campus. We are thrilled to see it come to life and be enjoyed by everyone."
